This weekend was quite an exciting one. It's not quite over yet, but I wanted to take this opportunity to blog as it's been more and more challenging to get to the computer. FOR GOOD REASONS!
Jenna has been great the last few days. We've continued to 'encourage' (i.e. force) naps throughout the day trying to 'beat' the sleepy signs as when she shows them, it's already too late and she winds her self up so she can't go to sleep. Anyway, when she naps it = alert, happy awake times. She's starting to open her eyes to the world around her and swatting at things with intent. It's great to see her really start to show her personality, to "talk", or, I call it 'chatterboxing'. She's so stinkin cute! She's pleasant to be around. It's really fantastic.
Today is Nick's birthday. The weekend has gone this way thus far: Friday I got a pedicure with Jenna in the moby... it went great and my toes look fantastic :) Friday night, Nick and I met up with Laura and Dan at the Dave Matthews concert. We had a great time. Mike and Heidi watched the munchkin and she did pretty well. Uncle Mike discovered that Jenna likes to be held only while standing. There is no cheating by sitting down and swaying your upper body. She knows. The Dave show was great, however, with the passing of LeRoi (the sax player) it was solemn. I actually don't know if the show felt 'different' only because of him, or if it was because I kept thinking of Jenna, and the fact that she wasn't with me or a combination of both but I can say it was different.
Saturday we went to Heather's baby shower. Jenna slept on the way, arrived hungry, ate and proceeded to be very good and spit up on anyone that came within 3 feet of us. The shower was super fun, Heather looks beautiful with a nice healthy baby belly and a little girl growing inside. Her Mom got a little 'grandma practice' in and she can't wait to meet the newest member of the family.
Saturday night we had a few people over to watch the UFC fight. Now only one thing would complete Nick's birthday weekend...
Sunday was the first 'official' NFL football Sunday and it also happened to be Nick's birthday. He received his gift from Jenna, a pack of his favorite socks and a pair of Dockers. Nonie and Poppie came down to celebrate as did Uncle Mike and Aunt Heidi. We had a nice 'linner' and though Jenna was up for an hour, down for an hour, up for an hour she did well yet again.
In any case, that's our weekend thus far. Tomorrow we *might* go to the zoo as Nick has the day off for his birthday. We'll see. I promise pictures as soon as I get a spare minute to upload the pics, however, I may not do that for awhile, as I'm enjoying Jenna often now and have little time away from her. Yay for the changes! Keep those fingers crossed that it continues!
Coincidentally, she's 11w, 1d old today... they say the 'fog' lifts at around 12 weeks....
